Van-Robins Racing Pigeons Auction 2012
Van-Robins Racing Pigeons is a partnership of Dr. Jim Vander Heide and Gary Robins, formed in 1996.
For the past 16 years, Van-Robins has consistently placed at or near the top of the race sheet competing in the very touch Orange County Flyers RPC. We have won hundreds of diplomas at both club and combine levels, including average speed, champion loft, master loft and champion bird. Birds from this loft have also won capital prizes in many one-loft classic futurity races.
We are not retiring from club racing and will focus only on one-loft futurity races. As a result, we are eliminating our race team and drastically reducing our breeding stock, keeping only a few pairs of young breeders.
The Van-Robins’ portion of this auction is unique in that every bird presented for sale is at least a diploma winner or a capital prize winner or has bred diploma winners and/or capital prize winners. This will dramatically increase the buyers’ odds of successfully breeding winners from these birds.
The Van-Robins family of racing pigeons is a blend of selected birds from some of the finest lofts in Southern California including: Grondalaer, Van Loon, Janssen and Verbruggen from the late Phil Adsit; Houben and Outlaw from Tim Brandon; and Dave Clark Janssen and We-Be-Birds from Vic DeBrouwer. Over the years, selected birds were crossed into this base family to increase vitality and speed. These included birds from: Henk Kuijlaars, Chris Peaman, Roger Mortvedt, Fraidoon Ali, Walter Hackworth and Mike Koepf. More recently, we have been successful breeding and racing a separate family of Shortface – Verheyes from the Stephen Brothers. Birds from both of these groups are in the auction.
Some of the birds in the auction are older stock birds. Van-Robins will guarantee fertility of any of their birds purchased by replacement with a pair of closely related youngsters.
Best Friends Loft
The “Outlaw Family” is a Houben based loft of pigeons primarily line bred to “Radio USA”, the first Houben imported to the United States. The “Radio USA” is down from “Radio” (14 x 1st place), “Good Black” (11 x 1st place) and “Artist”, sire of “Jonge Arteist” (7 x 1st place). “Radio USA” is the sire, grand sire and great grand sire to many champion birds, one loft winners and 1st place diploma winners. “Jesse James” is a great grandson of “Radio USA” and has proven to be my best stock cock producing three (3) champion birds, two (2) one loft winners and many diploma winners. “Jess James’” children “Billy the Kid”, “Black Bandit” and “Bella” are currently producing winners for me.
The “Outlaw Family” is responsible for seven (7) champion bird awards, thirteen (13) equal first one loft wins and many diploma winners. I have successfully crossed this family with Janssens, Meulemans and Verheyes. Many fanciers, too many to mention, have produced winners by using my family of birds to cross with their families. I am proud of the family I have created from the Houben base of pigeons. I thank Jef, Nadia, Evelyn and Luc for helping me get started with a group of quality pigeons and sound advice on how to breed and race them.
“Jesse James”, ’02 OCF 1311, was ranked 2nd National Middle Distance by the Digest Magazine for the 2002 Young Bird Season. The sire of “Jesse James” is “The Outlaw Cock”, grandson of “Patrick”. “Patrick” is the son of “Potske”, 1st Ace Long Distance Bird. She is the daughter of “Viking”, son of the “Jonge Arteist”, Houbens all time best stock cock. “Jesse’s” grandmother is “The 1240 Hen”, daughter of the “Radio Man” when mated to “Baby”. The grandsires of “The 1240 Hen” is “Radio USA” and “DeKeiser”. “The 1240 Hen” is the grand dam of two (2) Vegas Winners for Francisco Hernandez. He crossed a son of “The 1240 Hen” with his family and won more than $130,000.00 at Suvit’s Vegas Race.
“Patrick”, B-94 6666570, is a direct import from the “Houben Family Loft”. In 1994, while visiting lofts in Belgium, Jef Houben selected six (6) birds for me to purchase. He told me “Patrick” was special and to have patience with him. He told me this cock has the potential to be my foundation cock. “Patrick’s” dam was “Potske”, 1st ace long distance, daughter of the “Viking”. The “Jonge Arteist” made the Houben family loft famous by producing winners and breeders of winners all over the world.
“De Keiser”, 3 x 1st against 20,000+ birds is also a key bird found in my pedigrees. I imported the first bird off “DeKeiser” in 1995. Leo Vanrijn called her “Baby” and she was a dandy. She crossed perfectly with my Houbens producing champion birds and diploma winners. I imported four (4) more “DeKeiser” offspring from Leo Vanrijn. I purchased two (2) more “DeKeiser” birds from Rick Mardis after he purchased the “DeKeiser” from Leo Vanrijn.
Note: The birds in bold font are in the 5th and 6th generations of my pedigrees, which are not illustrated. I have marked these birds with a colored dot in the right margin of my pedigree to indicate their lineage. The color demarcations are as follows: Radio USA, Red; Patrick, Green; The 1240 Hen, Blue; De Keiser, Yellow;
Jonge Arteist, Black.
